What is DISC?

The DISC model is a behavioral assessment tool based on the theory of psychologist William Moulton Marston, which centers on four different personality traits.

The 4 Traits

1. Dominance (D)

  • Focus: Results, bottom line, confidence.
  • Strengths: Direct, strong-willed, forceful.
  • Challenges: Can be impatient or insensitive.

2. Influence (I)

  • Focus: Relationships, influencing others, enthusiasm.
  • Strengths: Optimistic, magnetic, enthusiastic.
  • Challenges: Can be disorganized or impulsive.

3. Steadiness (S)

  • Focus: Cooperation, sincerity, dependability.
  • Strengths: Patient, good listener, calm.
  • Challenges: Can be overly accommodating or resistant to change.

4. Conscientiousness (C)

  • Focus: Quality, accuracy, expertise, competency.
  • Strengths: Analytical, systematic, precise.
  • Challenges: Can be overly critical or indecisive.
