Introduction to Saju: Unlocking Your Destiny Chart
What is Saju?
Saju (사주), literally meaning "Four Pillars," is a Korean system of astrology based on the Chinese Four Pillars of Destiny. It analyzes the energy of the universe at the exact moment of your birth to reveal your innate character, strengths, weaknesses, and potential destiny.
Unlike Western astrology which focuses heavily on planetary positions, Saju focuses on the Five Elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water) and the Yin and Yang balance within your birth year, month, day, and hour.
The Four Pillars
Your Saju chart consists of four pillars, each representing a different aspect of your life:
- Year Pillar: Represents your ancestors, early childhood (0-20 years), and your roots.
- Month Pillar: Represents your parents, siblings, youth (20-40 years), and your career environment.
- Day Pillar: Represents You (Day Master) and your spouse. This is the core of your identity (40-60 years).
- Hour Pillar: Represents your children, later life (60+ years), and your hidden desires.
How to Read Your Chart
To read a Saju chart, you first identify your Day Master, which is the heavenly stem of your Day Pillar. This element (e.g., Yang Wood, Yin Fire) defines your core personality.
- Wood: Growth, creativity, kindness.
- Fire: Passion, expression, politeness.
- Earth: Stability, trust, meditation.
- Metal: Justice, decisiveness, structure.
- Water: Wisdom, flexibility, adaptability.
Can Destiny Be Changed?
Saju is not a fixed script but a weather forecast for your life. It tells you when it will rain (hardships) or when the sun will shine (opportunities). While you cannot change the weather, you can choose to carry an umbrella or plant seeds at the right time.
"Destiny is the car you drive; Luck is the road you travel; Feng Shui is the maintenance you do."
