What is BMR?

Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is the number of calories your body needs to accomplish its most basic life-sustaining functions, such as breathing, circulation, nutrient processing, and cell production. BMR is estimated based on your age, gender, height, and weight.

  • Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE): This is your BMR adjusted for your activity level. It represents the total number of calories you burn in a day.
  • Weight Management: To maintain weight, consume your TDEE. To lose weight, consume less than your TDEE. To gain weight, consume more.
